Country: Ethiopia, East Africa.
Age: 20th c. or older.
Collection: ዎህምምሱት “Wohemmesut” Collection of Òòl'ògún O̩mo̩'oòrùn (a.k.a. Khnumhotep Djehutimes Gakou, Mark Powell) and Fúnmiló̩lá Orílé̩wà (a.k.a. A. Michelle Kennedy).
Location: St. Petersburg, Florida, U.S.A. at present.
Additional Information: This type of bedroom furniture (called "borati" in Oromo, "gim'a" in Gurage, "barko" in Somali, ትራስ "teras" in Amharic, "metaras" in Beja, "wrs" or "uras" in Ancient Egyptian, etc...) is wide-spread throughout Africa particularly (although not exclusively) south of the Sahara with the main exception north of the Sahara being Ancient Egypt/Kemet where it is even mentioned in their sacred literature in a chapter dedicated to it called "ro-n-uras" (" Chapter Of Headrest"). The headrest is probably one of the most common humanities that Africans share among each other as regards material culture.
