Gold Award and First Class Alumnae are invited to support the Girl Scouts of Western Washington STEM program by helping us sort LEGO kits and refurbish our makerspace.

We'll thank you for your service by providing snacks and beverages (including beer and wine). You'll also earn a patch for your Troop GOLD collection.

What kinds of volunteer projects will we be working on?

We will be working on tasks to help sort, organize, restock and/or clean equipment used for our Girl Scout STEM programs. For example, you may be taking apart LEGO structures and counting out their pieces. There will not be any youth Girl Scouts at this event.

Who can attend this event?

Individuals who have earned the Girl Scouts Gold Award or First Class rank. You are not required to be a current Girl Scout member to attend.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

You must be at least 18 years old to attend the event and at least 21 to drink. There will be a variety of non-alchololic beverages provided. Please bring a photo ID with you to the event.

When should I arrive?

This event is drop-in style, so feel free to arrive or leave when you need to. We recommend arriving by 5:45 to get the most out of the experience.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

There is ample street parking in the area. There are also a number of bus routes near us. Check out King County Metro Trip Planner to plan your route.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Definitely not. We'll simply have a sign-in sheet for you to check off your name.

What is Troop GOLD?

Troop GOLD is a way for Gold Award and First Class alumnae to connect with one another and teens currently working on the Girl Scout Gold Award. We host events throughout the year that incorporate social, service and mentorship opportunities. You can also earn special patches just for your participation at Troop GOLD events! Make sure you're on the Troop GOLD list by emailing goldawards@girlscoutsww.org.

What STEM programs does Girl Scouts offer?

Girl Scouts has a variety of STEM opportunities including grade-level specific workshops that teach different topics ranging from archeology, to rocket building, to astronomy. We host LEGO League teams, where girls get to design, build and program robots. And we have a makerspace where Girl Scouts can create and build all sorts of gadgets.
