Based on the Gospel of Matthew, Godspell presents the life of Jesus as he draws together a group of individuals to teach lessons of love, trust, and the importance of community. Through this communal bond, Jesus’ peers demonstrate his lessons, using fun, energetic skits and parables packed with physical comedy and exaggerated storytelling. Despite the temptations of greed and evil temporarily clouding the community’s pure joy, the lessons learned prevail, leaving the group with the responsibility to live out Jesus’ ultimate message: always overcome evil with love.

Stephen Schwartz’ powerful and electric score combined with audience participation and comical vignettes, make for a timeless and beloved musical that will remind all of the simple, but important, messages that a full, happy life comes from loving completely and openly trusting the bond that comes from forming an intimate community.
