The Center for Medical Humanities & Ethics welcomes Dr. Victoria Sweet, a physician, historian and author of the book "God's Hotel: A Doctor, a Hospital, and a Pilgrimage to the Heart of Medicine." Dr. Sweet is an advocate for "slow medicine," the idea that the human body is a garden to be tended rather than a machine to be fixed.
Dr. Sweet will deliver the Ewing Halsell Distinguished Lecture from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 17, in the UT Health Science Center Holly Auditorium, 7703 Floyd Curl Drive in San Antonio. Her lecture will be preceded by a 5:30 p.m. reception and followed by a book signing.
Her book is the 2016 One Community/One Book selection of the UT Health Science Center.
