Event description

Description

Have we made God too safe? Too familiar?

How could a radical commitment to justice and hospitality make the difference in our homes, churches and communities?

Join Krish Kandiah for an evening looking at the surprising strangeness of God, and the power of hospitality. Krish is the author of the book God is Stranger, published by Hodder & Stoughton, where he takes us through the biblical stories of God turning up in surprising ways and through surprising people, and in turn explores the implications for Christians today.

Evangelist J.John writes, "This is an urgent, powerful and prophetic book that has the potential to change your life forever. Full of passion, biblical insight and real-world application, it demands not just to be read but to be acted on." To watch Krish's video introducing the book, click here. Copies will be available for purchase at the event.

The evening will feature brief local responses from Adele Owen, Director of Gloucestershire Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers (GARAS); and Redcliffe's Dr Tim Davy, who leads the Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children Research Project.

This Redcliffe College event will be held in the Chapter House, in the Cloisters of Gloucester Cathedral. Admission is free of charge, but space is limited and a guestlist will be in operation, so please sign up today to register for this event. The evening will last two hours, including interactive content and a twenty-minute interval for refreshments. There will be a voluntary offering at the event that will raise money towards the work of Home for Good and GARAS.

Dr Krish Kandiah is the founder of Home for Good, a fostering and adoption charity, and is the Vice President of Tearfund. An award-winning author, broadcaster, theologian and spokesman for the Christian community, Krish was a keynote speaker at Spring Harvest this year.
