Coordinator: Risa Olinsky - Maplewood resident who LOVES THE RESERVATION!

Trail hike for 5 miles. Finish the will depend on the pace of the group.  Estimate is 3 hours. We will walk some newly blazed trails, in addition to the Fairy Trail and onto Hemlock Falls.

Risa will have FreeWalkers SWAG for sale as well: Cash, check or venmo - all items $10.

Directions: Enter South Mt Reservation from South Orange Ave onto Crest Drive(from either east or west). Drive straight to where the road ends. Turn right onto Bear Lane. Park near the gazebo and look for the FreeWalkers banner by the dog park.

For safety and comfort: Dress for warmth (layers suggested) Hiking shoes/boots. Trails can be muddy and rocky in some areas. Hiking poles are helpful; not required. Bring your own water and light snack for energy. If you're coming from NYC there is the mid-town direct train to Maplewood that leaves NY Penn Station at 8:11 am. Carpool is available from Maplewood Train station to the start, but you must reserve your spot ahead of time with Risa O.

Children ( who can walk the distance) welcome with parent/guardians. NO strollers, bicycles, or other wheels, please.

FRIENDLY DOGS welcome but must REMAIN on LEASH 100%: It's the LAW. If your pup is used to running free this is not the event for him/her.
