Event description

Description

Learn to roast your own coffee at home, drink some delicious coffee, and hang out with the herd.

When I got my first goat, Rosie, about 8 years ago, it was mostly because of coffee. If you've ever had goat's milk in coffee, you understand. We roast a very special coffee here at the ranch. The beans are wild grown on Blue Mountain stock at an altitude similar to ours (5200 ft) in Paupa New Guinea. The flavor of the coffee is chocolate + fruit. We think this is the best coffee in the world. You can learn more about this coffee and the related humanitarian effort from the importer's web site: http://www.pnggourmetcoffee.com

We will open our gates so you can come and interact with the goats, follow them around as they forage on our 70 acre ranch in the mountains. I will be offering 1-on-1 coffee roasting lessons throughout the event to guests who would like to roast their own coffee to take home. We'll have coffee for tasting, green beans and roasted coffee beans for sale, along with cold brew kits. You can also stock up on fresh soy-free eggs and our small jars of goat milk caramel make great stocking stuffers or holiday hostess gifts.

Feel free to pack a picnic lunch and enjoy it on the property while you are here.

What to bring: Refillable water bottle, layered clothing, hat for protection from the sun, chopped up carrots, apples, or orange peels if you'd like to be able to give the goats some treats, a picnic lunch. Feel free to bing beer and/or wine for your picnic. Please plan to take any trash you generate with you when you leave the ranch.

What not to bring: Animals, especially dogs (we have plenty of our own).

How to find us: Angeles Crest Creamery is located in the San Gabriel Mountains overlooking the Antelope Valley, a 90 minute drive from most parts of Los Angeles. We recommend taking the 14 to the 138 to Largo Vista -- this is the easiest route; your GPS may provide an alternative. The entrance to the ranch is about half a mile West of Largo Vista on Big Pines Hwy. Please do not disturb the private residences just West of Largo Vista--keep driving until you see the big red barn. There is a small white "Angeles Crest Creamery" sign next to the metal gate. Park on Big Pines Hwy and walk onto the property. Sorry, driving on the property is not allowed. We will meet at the barn at 11am.

Our educational events are also fundraisers for our project, so we sell tickets. If you would like to attend but are not in a position to buy a ticket, please email us and we will accommodate you.

We are a operational ranch and there are real dangers here including goats with horns, sharp stuff to step on and rocks to trip over. Children must be closely supervised at all times. By purchasing this ticket you agree to defend and hold harmless Gloria Putnam and Angeles Crest Creamery in the event of any claim arising from your visit to the ranch.

Can't join us this time? Schedule a private stay at the ranch.
