Description

Celebrate National Biodiversity Week with Go Wild in Galway!

This free festival of wildlife takes place in various locations in Galway city from dawn until dusk on Saturday 25th May. Join a host of experts to discover the native wildlife of Galway city!

Dawn Chorus - 4.30am - Silver Strand Car Park

(4.30 - 6.30am)

We begin at Silver Strand bright and early at 4:30 am for our annual Dawn Chorus through Rusheen bay woods and along the beach and cliffs at Silver Strand. This event is well worth the early start - last year we identified over 33 birds by sight and call!

Wild Walk - 12 noon - Fisheries Field (across from Galway Cathedral)

(12-3pm)

At midday we will meet at Fisheries Field to begin our Wild Walk - a three-hour adventure along the river Corrib and Canals meeting our specialists along the way to discover the terrestrial mammals, birds, bats, invertebrates, fish, pollinators, plants and cetaceans, whilst learning how nature benefits your health & wellbeing!

Bat Walk with caddisfly trapping - 9pm - Galway Cathedral

(9-11.30pm)

Join the ever popular bat walk along the streets and canals of Galway led by Galway Bat Group, followed by caddisfly and moth trapping!




*Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Please wear sturdy footwear and clothing suitable for the weather conditions on the day.
