GO Plant Hope
Saturday, April 27, 2013 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM (PDT)
San Francisco, CA
A long way from home, I have been fortunate enough to meet two inspirational community leaders that have had a profound impact on me.
Peter Francis Luswata is a remarkable, warm hearted individual who changes lives. As the director of the Uganda Rural Community Support Foundation (URCSF) in Masaka, Uganda, Peter is helping to build his home community through educating the younger generation and bringing people out of poverty.
Jay Rosenberg is the co-founder of Hayes Valley Farm & 49 Farms and leads community-run farms located in the heart of San Francisco. Jay exudes passion for urban permaculture and has changed lives by providing educational programs, sustainable solutions within our city and farm oasises where the produce is donated to those in need.
Half a world apart, Peter and Jay are both promoting community and agricultural hubs that encourage residents to connect, grow their own food and learn about sustainable ecological systems.
It would be wonderful if you could join us for an afternoon of ‘planting hope’ – hope for our farming friends in Uganda and hope for our urban existence!
Jay Rosenberg has kindly offered to help host this event. Please take this as your personal invitation to roll-up your sleeves and: learn a mountain about mole hills, a hive about bees and even a new song from the birds from our local legend Jay.
Yes, it’s as much interactive fun as you can have with the birds and the bees - and don’t forget composting as well!
We will also be serving a seasonal afternoon tea and refreshments
100% of the money raised will be donated to assist our friends in Uganda. In 2012, GO and URCSF received a grant from IDEO to research and set up a micro-finance loan program at the URCSF farm in Uganda. Now we need the capital to pilot our loaning program to URCSF farmers and cooperatives!
As Peter says “Thank you for being an agent of change”
Please RSVP early so we know how much food and drink to have ready!
GO is a 501c3 charity that supports groundbreaking ideas and projects to reduce poverty in the developing world. We empower local visionaries and entrepreneurs to engage their communities and design sustainable futures.
