Panel Discussion: Learn the Tricks to Finding Your Next Career Using Staffing and Recruiting Firms
Years ago, one could find a job at a company and, with hard work, retire from that same company years later. The world has changed and with it so has the practice of employment. Now, some large corporations are using staffing agencies to fill positions on a project-by-project basis, others fill open positions by offering temporary contracts through recruiting companies, and then convert the best-performing contractors to permanent employees after the contracts expire.
Working with staffing agencies can be a win-win situation for job-seekers, if done well: workers get resume-strengthening experience, solid income, and networking opportunities in their field of expertise - while companies get qualified employees focused on accomplishing specific objectives without the company getting distracted from its core competencies due to a complicated search for talent. In this informative panel presentation, representatives of St. Louis staffing and recruiting agencies will give you a behind-the-scenes look at their processes, highlight the benefits of working with staffing firms, shed light on common myths, and help you navigate potential pitfalls.
The panel will discuss the following topics:
- What questions you should ask the staffing agency before partnering with them
- What recruiters look for in candidates – from resumes to phone interviews – and how to stand out from the crowd
- How staffing agencies “sell” candidates to client companies and what companies expect from agencies and contractors
- Common misconceptions, pitfalls, and red flags while working with staffing agencies
- Q&A with GO! Network members – your concerns and questions for staffing and temp agencies
