About this Event

Go for Props!: Working behind the scenes on a film set, K-12 grade

Instructor: Meagan Miller-McKeever

Meagan Miller-McKeever is a Set Decorator and Prop Master who works in TV and Film. She got her start in theater during High School painting sets for her local theater, before going on to Scripps College, and then getting a Masters in Theater Design from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London, UK. Since then Meagan has worked doing props for The Public Theater, Shakespeare in the Park, and the Juilliard School. Her TV and Film work includes working within the Set Decoration department on: The Blacklist (NBC), Blue Bloods (Fox), Luke Cage (Marvel), Mrs. Fletcher (HBO), and the soon to be released The Wilds (ABC/Amazon Prime).

Over this one hour conversation Meagan will discuss how she got her start in the industry, what kinds of internships and college opportunities to look for in the field of Theater and TV, and what the differences are between props and set dressing, as well as talking about some of the biggest challenges when building or working on a set. Afterwards, she will take any questions the students might have.
