When C. G. Jung sought historical precedent to help him understand and untangle his “confrontation with the unconscious,” as recorded in The Red Book: Liber Novus, he landed in the richly complex territories of Gnosticism and alchemy, both of which he used to craft a hermeneutic of vision. In this seminar, Jung Society board member, Psy.D. candidate at Pacifica Graduate Institute, and Gnostic priest Rev. Sam Osborne will explore the archetypal dimensions of Gnostic cosmogony and myth, with particular attention given to their relevance in the individual psyche and how these ancient mythologems reappear in modern threads woven throughout Jung's analytical psychology.
