Event description

Celebrating its sixth year, and formerly known as The G2 Green Earth Film Festival, The Gottlieb Native Garden, (GNG) GNG Green Earth Film Festival is a place for filmmakers of all experience levels—from seasoned industry professionals to passionate students — to come together and share, screen and discuss their eco-conscious films with like-minded individuals. We believe in the power of film to start conversations and effect positive change in the environment.

This year the GNG Green Earth Film Festival will debut at LMU’s exciting new School of Film and Television’s Playa Vista Campus, offering a weekend of environmental film screenings, expert panel discussions, receptions and more. Two state-of-the-art movie theatres will screen films simultaneously. This exciting new venue allows a larger audience to attend while launching the festival into a space dedicated to the artistry of film and film education. The GNG Green Earth Film Festival is delighted to work alongside LMU’s passionate faculty and student volunteers and honored to help inspire the next generation of environmental film activists.

The schedule of screenings is arranged over three days, each with its own theme: Friday will cover “The Resilient City or Living City,” sharing films about man’s modern relationship with nature within urban settings - highlighting urban resilient cities. Saturday will highlight “The Human Animal Bond,” presenting films that inspire activism for wildlife by exploring the deeply rich human-animal bond, and celebrating the Chinese Year of the Dog. Sunday’s films will focus on “Biodiversity,” featuring a film about birds that celebrates The Year of the Bird; as spearheaded by National Geographic, Audubon, Bird Life International and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.

Friday, October 19th - "Resilient City"

Saturday, October 20th - "Human Animal Bond"

Sunday, October 21st - "Biodiversity"

Four awards will be presented: Best Feature, Best Short, Audience Choice, and The Gottlieb Award for Environmental Excellence. They will be awarded to filmmakers at our Awards Ceremony on Sunday, October 21st at 6:30pm.
