Description

Join us for a fabulous Mother's Day weekend in downtown Amherst for our first-ever Glow Like a Mother Day Camp! We've curated a glowing day of activities that will take you out of your routine and ensure you create some epic memories with other remarkable mamas the day before Mother's Day. Get ready for an action-packed day filled with fun, pampering, and peace, featuring Amhesrt-area businesses that highlight the best the Pioneer Valley has to offer.

The Glow Like a Mother Day Camp is specifically for mothers who are wanting to unwind, act like a kid (or one of your own), and rediscover the radiant being that so often gets stifled in daily life. Birth and non-birth mamas are welcome!

Our trek will take us to Hope & Feathers Framing for a Gelli printmaking class, Fresh Side Eatery for lunch, a hula-hooping class by Hoop Joy, and a group circle in our own Bohemian lounge in Kendrick Park, featuring cupcakes by Annie's Bakery and vintage china by The Borrowed Teacup. There's a detailed description of each stop below. All campers will receive their very own Camp Glow It Up camper t-shirt to wear the day of the event.

1. Gelli Printmaking at Hope & Feathers Framing

We will learn the basics of Gelli monoprinting in the inspiring setting of Hope & Feathers Framing! Gelli monotype printmaking is a hands on, creative and approachable form of printmaking. By utilizing patterns and layering techniques, we'll create simple and beautiful art that you can display proudly in your home or office. Campers will also leave with a Gelli printing kit and the knowledge of how to print at home! Check out this example demo.

2. Tea Rolls at Fresh Side Eatery

Fresh Side Eatery sits right on the Amherst Common and features innovative Asian fusion offerings. Our special menu will include small plates and their iconic tea rolls.

3. A Hula-Hooping Class by Hoop Joy

Whether you’ve never been able to keep the hoop going on your waist, or you’ve got that spin down but barely considered that there were other possibilities, you’re in for a treat! Discover the full-body toning, balance, coordination and range of motion benefits that are possible when you get to know these pretty circles.

Stephanie O’Keeffe owns the Hoop Joy studio in Amherst. She promotes hooping as fun fitness for adults, with its combination of physical and mental workout benefits that make it an excellent tool for healthy aging – at every age. Stephanie fell in love with hooping when she bought herself a hoop for her 43rd birthday, and she’s been spreading that hoop joy ever since.

4. Group Circle in Kendrick Park with Cupcakes by Annie's Bakery and Vintage China by The Borrowed Teacup.

In our group circle, we will delve into topics like the identity shifts between motherhood and personhood, societal stigmas of mothers, and how to make time to destress on a regular basis, all in our own Bohemian-style lounge in the middle of Kendrick Park. We'll sip some tea and indulge in delicious cupcakes, served on elegant china so we can feel extra fancy.

The Borrowed Teacup provides specialty vintage china and tableware rentals, design, and set-up for events in New England. They look to create cherished memories for gatherings by renting one-of-a-kind pieces that make events feel extra special.

Annie's Bakery specializes in custom buttercream cakes and cupcakes. Annie is a self-taught baker and Momma, who feels that all special events and celebrations are more memorable when the dessert is both delicious and beautiful.
