Gloucestershire Police Male Voice Choir Golden Jubilee Concert
Event Information
About this event
Over the years, the Gloucestershire Police Male Voice Choir has raised more than £750,000 for local charities and other good causes, and in 2020 we reached our Golden Jubilee as the choir had been going for 50 years, which I’m sure you will agree is quite an achievement in this day and age!
To mark this notable milestone, we had planned a series of concerts across the county throughout our Golden Jubilee year. However, Covid got in the way, and these unfortunately couldn’t take place.
This concert is therefore our somewhat delayed celebration of the 50+ years we’ve been going... and we're holding it in Cheltenham, the town where the choir held our very first concert all those years ago, back in 1970!
The concert will be raising funds for two very worthy local charities: the Pied Piper Appeal, which helps sick and disabled children throughout Gloucestershire, and The Nelson Trust, a Stroud-based charity that brings belief, hope and long-term recovery to people whose lives have been torn apart by addiction and the multiple and complex needs that come with it. Please do come along and support these important local good causes, as well as having a great evening of fantastic music.
The choir will be supported by our special guest artist Tim Jones, the ‘Singing Policeman’, who you may well have seen on his popular Facebook Live events and at various local concerts, as well as being featured in the national press and on local TV news, ITV1’s ‘Lorraine’ and BBC1’s ‘The One Show’.
The evening will be compèred by Dominic Cotter from BBC Radio Gloucestershire.
