Event description

Description

We would like to invite you to an evening of story telling, promoted by a piece of craft, a photograph or tools that you own, that was made by a member of the Gloucestershire Guild of Craftsmen, or are associated with the Guild.

We are looking to explore the history of the Guild in a different way, focusing on the experiences of being a guild member and the work that members bring into the guild through their craft practice.

At these evenings, we would like to invite you to bring along a piece of work by another member and then to share a small story about it - perhaps the memory of when you acquired it, or the place it holds in your life, or the memories it brings forward. Through these stories, we hope to tell a new history of the Guild that is all about the relationships that are forged through craft practices and members' lives.

We will record the evening and then write up your story, with your approval, to be posted on the GGC website. We have a new history section of the site under development and it will be lovely to launch this with some of your stories of the Guild. You won’t need to write anything (unless you want to!) and we will ensure you sign off before anything is posted.

If you have items that you would like to deposit into the Guild archive bring them along and we will make sure they get to the Gloucestershire Heritage Centre who hold the Guild’s records.

A light supper will be provided at these events. Please inform us of any dietary requirements when you reserve your place.

If you have any queries please contact Frances on (fer204@exeter.ac.uk).
