Global Soup - Soup Party to Benefit Cooking Up Cultures
Sunday, April 27, 2014 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM (CDT)
Global Soup is the soup party that celebrates Austin's multicultural community. Local non-profit Cooking Up Cultures chooses a language and a cuisine to highlight, then brings in a local chef to cook up a big pot of soup to share with community members from all different backgrounds and birth languages.
The Global Soup
"Sopa de Frijol y Chile Pasilla Oaxaqueño"
by El Naranjo
Iliana and Ernesto, owners of El Naranjo restaurant on hip Rainey Street, will prepare a soup for us with their signature bold, romantic flavors that are rich in tradition. The soup is a black bean soup with chiles pasilla oaxaqueño and served with tortilla strips and crema mexicana!
We are so excited to have Iliana and Ernesto share a little of their Latin heritage with us! You can read more about El Naranjo in some of the rpess coverage in Saveur, Bon Appetit, and Edible Austin to name a few. Better yet, you can come to the Global Soup at in.gredients and meet them for yourselves!
