What are the ethical implications of AI technologies on human rights? How do Eastern cultural and philosophical approaches alter our understanding of AI ethics? What does a post-AI, post-automation world look like? What is the role of inclusivity in the AI ethics discourse?

Global Perspectives on AI Ethics enables deeper conversations and public dialogue on the issues raised in the previous months’ modules of the AI Ethics: Global Perspectives course. This month, we will be joined by the following distinguished faculty:

Panelists:
Favour Borokini
Favour is a Data and Digital Rights Researcher at Pollicy Uganda working remotely from Nigeria. In her role at Pollicy, she arches a number of knotty topics related to technology-facilitated violence against women and the general impact of subsisting and emerging technologies on social justice and equality. Favour also works as a Content Writer with Ethical Intelligence, an AI Ethics consulting firm and with various research groups on topics related to data protection regulation and healthcare delivery. She is currently an Affiliate with The Future Society.
Jibu Elias
Jibu is an AI Ethicist, Researcher, and the leading expert on India’s AI ecosystem and is the Research & Content Lead at INDIAai -The National AI Portal for the Government of India. Jibu is also a member of the OECD Network of Experts on AI (ONE AI) and one of the founding Editorial Board Members of Springer’s AI and Ethics journal, the first multidisciplinary academic journal on AI ethics. With years of experience covering emerging technologies with PC Mag and the Times of India Group, Jibu’s work currently focuses on building a unified AI ecosystem in India.
Tannya Jajal
Tannya is a keynote speaker, futurist, and author of the upcoming book, "Thinking Machines: A.I. and the Intelligence Explosion". Tannya encourages current and future leaders to explore the ethical and practical implications of exponential technologies on business, life and society at large. She is an advocate of radical innovation, the rise of meaningful work and skills in a post-automation world, and a proponent of educational reform. Tannya is a Regional Resource Manager at VMware, a market leader in hybrid cloud solutions, leading the way forward for digital transformation.

Julia Stoyanovich (Course Lead)
Julia Stoyanovich is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Tandon School of Engineering, and the Center for Data Science. She also serves as Director at the Center for Responsible AI at NYU. Julia's research focuses on responsible data management and analysis practices: on operationalizing fairness, diversity, transparency, and data protection in all stages of the data acquisition and processing lifecycle.
Stefaan Verhulst (Course Lead)
Stefaan G. Verhulst is Co-Founder and Chief Research and Development Officer of the Governance Laboratory (The GovLab) at NYU Tandon School of Engineering - an action research center focused on improving governance using advances in science and technology - including data and collective intelligence.
