Global Leadership Model UN Conference 2019
Event Information
Description
This is a unique and high caliber one-day Model UN Conference. It's an excellent way to 'kick-off' the 2019-2020 season!
The Global Leadership Conference provides delegates with an exciting first Model UN Conference of the school year. This is a NO PREP conference in which students receive an abridged topic guide and country profile on the day of the conference and 30-minute preparation block before the start of committee.
Below is a brief Q and A to help you learn a little more about the event:
- Where is it? The Omni Parker House (opening and closing ceremonies) and Suffolk Law School (committee sessions) in downtown Boston
- When is it? October 6, 2019 from 9-4...doors open for arrival at the Omni Parker House at 8:30
- Who are the chairs? Members of Suffolk Model UN Team and other Boston-area college Model UN teams
- What is the committee/topic? General Assembly, Addressing the Cholera Epidemic in Haiti
- Is this a middle or high school conference? This conference is open to both middle and high school teams. They will be separate committee rooms.
- When will delegates find out their countries? Once delegates arrive at the conference they will be assigned a country and be given a half-hour to prepare their country positions and opening statements.
- Are there position papers? No - not for this conference
- Do students need to travel with an advisor? Yes - an advisor must accompany their students and is responsible for taking them to lunch at one of the many wonderful options just a short walk away (map and lunch guide will be provided). We recommend that each student brings about $10 for lunch.
- My school doesn't have a Model UN team, but I'd like to attend...are independent teams invited? Yes! Independent teams are invited to attend. A minimum of 2 delegates and an advisor are the only requirements. Parent advisors welcome!
- What is the cost of registration? The school sign-up fee is $100; the individual delegate fee is $65 (funding is available for Title I qualifying schools). Once a school has completed the school sign up, the UNAGB will send an invoice to the advisor for the individual delegate fees.
- What is the refund policy? The team fee of $100 is non-refundable. Delegate fees ($65) may be refunded until a week before the event.
