Event description

Description

Due to unprecedented interest in attending the Global Investigative Journalism Conference, we are suspending sales for several days to ensure we have adequate capacity to cope with the large crowds we expect. Please be patient and we will resume operations soon. Thank you!

The Global Investigative Journalism Conference is the world’s largest international gathering of investigative and data journalists. Called “The World Expo of Muckraking,” the conferences have brought together over 7,000 of the globe’s most enterprising people in media since 2001.

To attend the Global Investigative Journalism Conference, you must be a professional journalist or an employee of a nonprofit, NGO, or educational organization, or its equivalent, that actively works in support of investigative reporting and related data journalism. Non-journalists can get approval to attend by writing hello@gijn.org.

#GIJC19 — scheduled for this September 26-29 in Hamburg, Germany — is co-hosted by the Global Investigative Journalism Network, Netzwerk Recherche and Interlink Academy.

The conference will feature over 170 panels, workshops and special sessions on all aspects of investigative and data journalism. Here's a chance to learn from the best in the business — winners of the Pulitzer Prize and other top awards, pioneers of data journalism, and fearless investigators who have exposed corruption and abuses of power almost everywhere.

The #GIJC19 website will answer your questions on program, accommodation, transport, and more.

Childcare: for the first time, we will be offering professional childcare at the Global Investigative Journalism Conference. It is free of charge for all attendees, but places are limited and subject to availability. More information here.

The conference fee includes full access to all panels, workshops and special sessions. It also covers lunches during conference days, a cocktail reception, and a gala dinner on Saturday Sept. 28th.

Requests for refunds are accepted if you registered but cannot join us in Hamburg. Make a request through your Eventbrite account or send us an email at hello@gijn.org.

Anti-Discrimination and Harassment

The Global Investigative Journalism Conference is a strong believer in diversity and welcomes participants regardless of race, color, creed, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, ancestry, citizenship status, or disability. Discrimination, sexual harassment, or other inappropriate conduct will not be tolerated and will be grounds for expulsion from the conference.
