A conference for global health researchers, students and organizations to discuss the steps needed to achieve a robust health workforce.

About this Event

On behalf of UBC's School of Population and Public Health and the Centre for International and Child Health (CICH) at BC Children's Hospital, we present to you the 2nd Annual Global Health Conference.

Keynote speakers :

Dr. Timothy Evans - Director and Associate Dean of McGill's School of Population and Global Health.

A pioneer in the field of global health research and policy, Dr. Evans has devoted much of his career to advancing health equity as a fundamental value driving innovation and collaboration.

Dr. Evans has held multiple high-profile global health positions, including

  • Senior Director of the Health, Nutrition and Population (HNP) Global Practice at the World Bank Group
  • Assistant Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO) from 2003 to 2010
  • Director of the Health Equity Theme at The Rockefeller Foundation from 1997 to 2003.

Stephen Rulisa - Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Dean of the School of Medicine and Pharmacy at the University of Rwanda.

He is a clinician with over 15 years of experience in health research, with a focus on epidemiology, public health and global health. His current interest is in strengthening medical education and health outcomes through evidence-based medicine

  • Current Vice-Chair of Rwanda Society of Obstetricians and Gynecology.
  • Founded and chaired the department of education and research at the University Teaching hospital of Kigali
  • A founding fellow of East Central and Southern African College of obstetricians and gynecologists (ECSACOG)
  • Implementated the 'Human Resources for Health (HRH) Program, a seven-year collaboration between Ministry of Health in Rwanda and the US Clinton Global Health Initiative to build the health education infrastructure and workforce necessary to create a high quality, sustainable healthcare system in Rwanda.

Students - $10 CAD

Non-students - $30 CAD
