About this Event
You will enjoy the following 3 short films [links to 2 trailers are below]:
"Our Atoll Speaks" - Gemma Cubero del Barrio
Our Atoll Speaks (Ko Talatala Mai Tō Mātou Wenua) is a short film on the environmental knowledge of the people of Pukapuka/Nassau, an atoll in the Northern Group of the Cook Islands.
Indigenous climate knowledge and conservation practices developed over thousands of years have something to teach. When we know our environment, we know how to conserve and adapt to it.
"Kokoly" - Blue Ventures
Kokoly tells the story of an incredible woman. Against a backdrop of extreme poverty, and a marine environment changing beyond her control. Kokoly lives on a knife edge. Traditional Vezo fisher woman, Madame Kokoly reflects on her life experiences and carries out her daily routine in and around the coastal waters of southwest Madagascar.
"Tahiry Honko" - Blue Ventures
Learn how Madagascar's first mangrove carbon project is catalysing locally-led mangrove management.
Join filmmaker Gemma Cubero del Barrio and EOS Center's Habitat Restoration expert Dr. Kathy Boyer for a panel discussion of the films and the best practices for critical restoration work that includes everyone.
