Event description

Description

Meet Johannes Suriadjaja and his daughter, Christina. Johannes runs one of Indonesia's largest property, hospitality and construction groups, and he inspired Christina to start Travelio.com at age 23.

The father-daughter perspective on family business

Johannes is a second-generation member of PT Surya Semesta Internusa Tbk, founded by his father in 1971. The company's recent projects include building Indonesia's largest intercity toll road, and hotel/residential property developments, including the acclaimed 5-star Gran Melia Hotel and Banyan Tree Ungasan, Bali.

Johannes Suriadjaja was awarded Indonesia Ernst & Young 'Entrepreneur of The Year' in 2013 and represented Indonesia at the Annual Ernst & Young World Entrepreneur of The Year Event in Monaco in 2014.

His daughter, Christina Suriadjaja, founded Travelio.com at age 23 using $90,000 of her personal savings to get the business off the ground.

"Indonesia's answer to AirBnb"

Travelio.com is a home rental provider that manages secondary and investment homes for private individuals and property developers by leasing the units for short-term rentals. Indonesia is expected to be the fastest-growing online tourism market in the Asia-Pacific region over the next five years.
