Event description

Description

The University of Texas Project on Conflict Resolution invites you to join us for a day workshop exploring conflict and discovering effective resolution at all levels, from the personal to the international. We will focus on dealing with teenagers, managing classrooms, leading discussions, and dealing with colleagues. You will get a crash course in the latest thinking about ethical and creative problem-solving strategies, conflict analysis methods, negotiation skills, discussion skills, and much more, with an emphasis on active learning. You’ll apply what you learn to mediating international negotiations and to running a meeting at school, so you can connect what you learn.

You will participate in some activities with teens attending the UT Global Ethics and Conflict Resolution Summer Symposium and spend most of your time learning new ideas to adapt to your particular teaching setting. Lunch is included.

Educators may stay overnight in the dormitory at Hardin House, if they wish. Cafeteria-style meals offer hot options, cold cereals, and a salad/sandwich bar. The workshop starts at 10:00 AM and will end at 6:00 PM. If you want something a little more luxurious than a dorm room, Hardin House also has a B&B in their properties. For more information on overnight options, please contact us.

Cost for the workshop, including instruction, materials, and meals is $110. CEU credits are available for 7 credit hours. You can also earn graduate or undergraduate UT course credits if you wish to register for the workshop and concurrently register for summer school and complete additional assignments. For more information on this, please ask!
