Event description

Description

On Saturday, February 3, 2018 the Global Diversity CFP Day team are running workshops around the globe for newbie speakers just like you, where you'll learn how to put together your first talk proposal and share your own individual perspective on any subject of interest to people in tech.

Each workshop will have experienced speakers on hand to:

  • give you a warm, inclusive welcome in a safe space (check out our Code of Conduct which all participants must adhere to)

  • mentor you with your proposal

  • provide speaking advice and share their enthusiasm to get you to the stage!

Subject Matter: These workshops have no specific language, framework or process as a focus. Even if your talk isn’t even related to tech we want to hear from you too! In short, if there is something that you want to shout to the world we're here to help you get there regardless of the boundaries of technology or communities.

The Team

The event is being run by Ash Kyd, a co-organizer of the Brisbane Javascript meetup and a proponent of diversity in tech.

Mentors include:

  • Anna Gerber, a senior NodeJS developer at PCCW Global, teacher, author and speaker extraordinaire.
  • Sarah Smith, a distinguished software engineer, entrepreneur & international speaker in tech.
  • Clinton Roy, senior software engineer at Bloomberg L.P.. Organiser of Humbug, BrisPy, and helper-outter at Linux Conf and PyCon.
  • And more coming soon!

Excited to get started? Sign up now, and be sure to invite your friends and colleagues you think would be interested.

The venue is provided by the kind folks at Thoughtworks. For more information, check out the Global Diversity CFP Day site.
