About this event

Glennwood Elementary PTA's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee invites families on a field trip to learn about the indigenous history of our neighborhoods. Ranger Jonah McDonald, the DeKalb County Park Naturalist at Mason Mill Park will lead us on a nature hike with a focus on the human history of DeKalb County, specifically the Muscogee (Creek) people who lived here before being deported by the U.S. government. We'll learn about indigenous stewardship of nature, technology, storytelling, and history while on a nature walk through the trails of Mason Mill Park.

We will walk between 1-2 miles on paved paths, boardwalks, and soft-surface trails. Wear appropriate footwear, dress for the weather, and bring a refillable water bottle and snacks.

Meet at the South Peachtree Creek trailhead near the Tennis Center (McConnell Dr & Mason Mill Rd).

This field trip is open to 30 people.
