What are the physical demands of a gleaning trip?
Hope’s Harvest is committed to making our gleans as accessible as possible. If you have any questions or concerns about your physical ability in relation to a gleaning trip, don't hesitate to reach out to us. During a glean, volunteers can assist with harvesting or packing. Usually, we need the most help with harvesting. Packing entails transferring the crop from the harvest totes into boxes or bins, weighing them, and loading them onto the truck. Every glean is different -- if we know what crop we will be harvesting ahead of time, that information will be contained in the title of the event on Eventbrite. In general, harvesting may require bending / kneeling / squatting, lifting, and carrying harvest totes (which are as heavy as you fill them) to the packing area, which may be a few hundred feet away from the harvest area, at most.
What facilities are available at the farm?
Not all of the farms we work with have restrooms. If we know the bathroom availability ahead of time, this information will be provided in the order confirmation email. If you need to cancel based on bathroom availability that is completely okay!
What can I bring into the event?
Please review the Volunteer Agreement and COVID Volunteer Agreement for details on how to be prepared for your trip. More details on how to be prepared can be found on our Volunteers Page.
How can I contact the organizer with any questions?
Check your inbox and spam folder for the email confirmation for the event. There you can find the name of the trip leader, their email, and their phone number. If you don't find it, email hh@farmfreshri.org or text 443-934-2431.
What's the refund policy?
This is a free volunteer opportunity. If you cannot make the trip, please be sure to cancel your registration as soon as possible so someone on the waiting list can take your spot.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No, the trip leader will have a roster of registrants.
Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?
You must be a registered volunteer with Hope's Harvest to attend this trip. If you would like to cancel your registration, please do so via the Eventbrite platform so the next person on the waiting list can take your spot.
Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?
No. Please make sure that the person registered is also the attendee, since all volunteers must be registered with Hope's Harvest RI before attending a trip. If you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration via the Eventbrite platform so the next person on the waiting list can take your spot.
