This year's event is entitled "Different Places, Different Roles: Health Education Across the Spectrum." Participants will recognize the immense adaptability of a health educator's skill set in diverse settings where health education is relevant for promoting positive outcomes.

Your Life on a Coin Toss: Trying to Achieve Wellness without Addressing Mental Health
This talk will investigate attitudinal, societal, and structural barriers to mental health parity. A critical examination of existing models to improve integration of behavioral health care will be undertaken, including the 2009 Cochrane Database Systemic Review that demonstrated only modest benefits for embedded integrated care. Emerging models will be examined for their potential to contribute to a true public health model for prevention of mental illness and promotion of mental wellbeing.

Are student scholarships available?
There are a limited number of $25 scholarships available for students. See the online application if interested.
Is continuing education credit offered?
The event committee has submitted an application to provide 5 Category 1 Continuing Education Contact Hours (CECH) for Certified Health Education Specialists and Master Certified Health Education Specialists to the Society for Public Health Education. SOPHE has been designated as a provider of CECH by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing. CECH are free for current GLC-SOPHE members. Non-members are charged $5 per CHES/MCHES credit hour to cover processing fees. Fees will be collected on-site.
