Girls with Goals Alliance Opportuni-Tea 2017 A Night of "Dreams in Action"

Our Awards and Recognition event celebrates Women's History Month and the "Mentoring Effect" of the organization, created to develop and guide girls and young women in Hampton Roads.
PORTSMOUTH, VA – The Girls with Goals Alliance (GWGA) is celebrating “A Night of Dreams in Action”, its fourth awards and recognition program to be held on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 6:00 pm at The Woman’s Club of Portsmouth, 304 Sycamore Rd, Portsmouth, VA 23707. Our guest speaker for the evening will be Dr. Aliecia McClain, Director of DNIMAS Norfolk State University, Norfolk, VA. The dinner will recognize and celebrate the success of mentors, mentees, community and corporate supporters who have made contributions to the program. Hampton Roads area youth organizations which support girls and mentoring from several cities will be in attendance. Special guest Emcee for the evening will be Ashley Smith, WVEC ABC13 News, Traffic and News Reporter!
Tickets are $40 for adults and $20 for youth (ages 9-18). Proceeds benefit GWGA S.T.E.A.M programs.Registration begins at 5:30 pm and valet parking is included.
We are helping Lending Hands donate 1000 pairs of socks to the homeless for March, bring your socks donation with you to the event to help those in need.
The program serves young women ages 9-18 living in the Hampton Roads area who may be at risk of quitting school, engaging in illegal drugs, becoming pregnant, or encountering violence. Young women get the chance to develop one-on-one relationships with their mentors. Mentors are required to be at least 25 years or older. Volunteers ages 21-24 years old will have the opportunity to participate in the “Mentor Assist” program. GWGA are looking for girls ready to learn from accomplished women with a heart to serve our youth.
