Event description

Description

This out-of-school club will work to complete a website with Snapchat integration and launch a Snapchat campaign. To campaign for what, you are asking? Come join us and decide!

Girls Who Code is a national non-profit organization aimed at closing the gender gap in technology.

Facilitator: Our High School club is facilitated by Sarah Dietrich. For the past 5 years Sarah has volunteered her time as part of the instructor teams for Girls Who Code Howard County. She is a self-taught coder who works as a Software Systems Engineer for NASA's Earth Observing Data Information Systems and Mission Operations. https://www.linkedin.com/in/sarahbdietrich

Eligibility: Girls Who Code is open to all girls in grades 9–12. Interested participants who identify as female are encouraged to enroll. No experience necessary.

Cost: Our club is FREE. All instruction, materials, and curriculum are generously provided by Girls Who Code. Donations are encouraged and appreciated to cover the cost of computing equipment, insurance, and activities. Parent involvement is priceless, and we have volunteer opportunities for parents to assist with meeting snacks, special event planning, and transportation to occasional off-center events. If you are interested in volunteering, please indicate your interest on the form below.

Schedule: We meet weekly on seven Mondays from 7 pm to 8:30 pm at the USRA STEMaction Center in Columbia. We ask participants to commit to attend at least four of the scheduled meetings, barring unforeseen circumstances. Our Spring 2020 meeting dates are:

  • Feb. 10
  • < no club on Presidents day >
  • Feb. 24
  • Mar. 2
  • Mar. 9
  • Mar. 16
