Event description

Description

Girls Who Code is a national non-profit organization aimed at closing the gender gap in technology. This out-of-school club will write python code to automate Snapchat. Once we master a basic project together, each participant will get to build their own Snapchat bot!

Eligibility: Girls Who Code is open to all girls in grades 9–12. Interested participants who identify as female are encouraged to enroll. No experience necessary.

Cost: Our club is FREE. All instruction, materials, and curriculum are generously provided by Girls Who Code. Donations are encouraged and appreciated to cover the cost of computing equipment, insurance, and activities. Parent involvement is priceless, and we have volunteer opportunities for parents to assist with meeting snacks, special event planning, and transportation to occasional off-center events. If you are interested in volunteering, please indicate your interest on the form below.

Schedule: We meet weekly on five Mondays from 6:30 to 8 pm at the USRA STEMaction Center in Columbia. We ask participants to commit to attend at least four of the scheduled meetings, barring unforeseen circumstances. Our Fall 2019 meeting dates are:

  • Dec. 2
  • Dec. 9
  • Dec. 16
  • Jan. 6
  • Jan. 13 - Graduation and Club Showcase
