Event description

Description

Girls Thrive is ready for another great session beginning Tuesday, April 16th - Saturday, June 8th, 2019! We only have 25 spaces available, so please register your girl(s) at your earliest convenience. As a reminder, registration sold out in 72 hours last fall!

Please note, you will need to select which ticket type is appropriate for your girl(s): GT Full Session, GT Scholarship, or Support GT. The Support GT ticket is available for those who would like to contribute more than the $110 registration payment. If you are registering multiple girls, select multiple tickets; you will be able to enter individual information for each girl during checkout.

In order to register, you will need to have your girl's required motivation statements ready to be entered! This is a short statement detailing why your girl wants to be in GT and what she hopes to gain from the program. The motivation statements help coaches create a positive learning environment for all, and are a helpful tool for the girls on challenging days.

Girls can register for one, two, or all three of the activity days, but are strongly encouraged to try all three in order to maximize benefits.

  • Tuesdays: Running, 4-5:30 PM, meeting at the Girls Thrive Headquarters (GTHQ), located at our facility within Frist Christian Church (please see location details below).

  • Thursdays: Cross-training (activities such as rock climbing, hiking, yoga, and more!), 4-5:30 PM, at various locations. Parents will be emailed about the locations ahead of time to their primary email address provided during registration.

  • Saturdays: Mountain biking, 10 AM-12 PM (girls borrowing bikes, please arrive at 9:30am) at the GTHQ.

Most running and cross-training days will incorporate an educational lesson focusing on body image, leadership, eating disorders, mindfulness, guest speakers, and more. No experience in any particular sport is required for registration. We all learn together and encourage each other. Parents will receive a full schedule of activities and locations before the start of the session.

Eligibility: Open to all girls currently in grades 6 through 12.

Cost: $110 for 1,2, or 3 participation days. This new price reflects the costs of this streamlined online registration and payment system. Scholarships are available to those in need. Please select the scholarship ticket option if your girl is in need of a scholarship. Payment must be made via credit card through this online payment system.

Gear: Available at no cost to anyone who needs it! GT bikes and helmets are available to use on a first come, first served basis during the session. Please note that we only have 10 bikes and helmets available.

Location: On most dates, we will meet at the GTHQ in the First Christian Church on the second floor, located at 311 Power Street. Parents will be informed via email at the beginning of the week if another meeting location is necessary. For example, on some cross-training days, we will meet at Stonetree Climbing Center instead of the GTHQ.

Safety: We are committed to providing a safe and positive environment for every girl. Our volunteer coaches have had background checks, most are First Aid and CPR certified, and all are passionate about our mission.
