Event description

Description

Between ages 10 and 13, girls’ confidence levels drop by 30%, and anxiety and depression rates in teen girls are double those of boys. Learn about the pressures that are unique to being a girl today and how you can help girls navigate these challenges with confidence. Girls Leadership’s Co-Founder and CEO Simone Marean will give her acclaimed parent education talk focusing on practical, actionable advice that you can use at home to help support the young girl or girls in your life. Her presentation covers the development of girl dynamics from preschool through high school.

Girls Leadership puts social and emotional learning (SEL) at the foundation of all our leadership development. We see girls’ real-life, every-day relationships with friends and family as the primary opportunity we have to teach girls the leadership skills that will serve them over a lifetime: self-advocacy, negotiation, compromise, personal responsibility and conflict as an opportunity for change. Our goal is to equip every girl with the courage, skills, and community to exercise the power of her voice.

$5 suggested donation. Open to the community. Childcare available for school-age children. This talk is for parents and educators, not children.

This event is presented by the PS 321 SEL Committee and PS 321 PTA.
