The Girls Inspire Summit is aimed to raise awareness to the misrepresentation of young girls and women in the media. One hundred girls between the ages of 11 and 17 will have the opportunity to discuss their thoughts, concerns, and fears in regards to the media’s skewed image of beauty. The panelists and activities will speak to the overall theme of teaching young girls to be true to themselves, take a more critical view of the images the media portrays, and encourage them to diligently pursue their dreams.
This two-part event will include a panel discussion led by the previously mentioned notable women in the entertainment industry, followed by a vision board workshop. The workshop presented by LOGO 4 LIFE, will allow the girls in attendance to make visual representations of their future and create their own logo for their lives, not based on beauty or looks but their goals, strengths and character. Games and other activities will also be set up for the girls to enjoy and learn more about media literacy. Major sponsor for the Girls Inspire Summit is Wells Fargo bank. Female powerhouse, DJ Ladee Elle will also be in attendance, spinning to create high energy.
