Girls (and boys) Cyber Security Summer Camp
Event Information
Description
Girls entering grades 7-12 are invited to join us for our third Cyber Security Summer Camp. Camp will meet August 7-11, 2017 from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm daily. The core activities for this camp will be complimented by presentations from industry experts. Students will learn about online safety, passwords, how computers work, cyber ethics, coding, cryptography and cyphers (sending secret messages), cyber threats, cybersecurity principles, virtual machines, basic cyber security tools and methods and cybersecurity career opportunities, all leading to a fun competition on Friday. The camp is for students interested in learning about cyber security (one of the hottest career fields today), but with little or no prior experience in cyber security. The only pre-requisite is an interest in learning about cyber security. Tech experts from PNNL, other local companies along with instructors and students from Columbia Basin College will lead the activities. Lunch provided for all attendees. Meets daily August 7-11, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This camp is FREE.
NOTE: Thank you for your interest Orders have been placed for all available seats and we are now accepting names for the waitlist. Typically all students on the waitlist are invited a day or two before or the morning of the camp (due to last minute no-shows).
