Girl Rising
Event Information
Description
This is a night to celebrate One Billion Rising as an international movement that brings awareness to women/girls issues of suppression and oppression. We will not only view a screening of the documentary "Girl Rising" (trailer) but we will highlight a couple locally supported organizations that are helping transform women/girls issues internationally (Dining for Women and Bright Nepal). ALL donations from the evening will support Bright Nepal, a girls hostel that rescues "at risk" girls and gives them a safe, comfortable place to live and an education in Kathmandu, Nepal.
We will be suggesting a donation at the door of $10/adult and $5 for students. In addition, we will have the capability of taking larger tax deductible donations via the internet during the event. The film is rated by PG-13 for mature content. There is no violence, nudity, or swearing, but there are some difficult themes and images.
