Women LEAD Nepal is the first and only leadership development organization for young women, led by young women, in Nepal. Since 2011, we’ve empowered over 500 female high school students with the skills, support and opportunities to become leaders in their schools and communities. Our programs provide them with leadership training, skills building, mentoring, and a peer-support network.
Women’s leadership rates remain low across all sectors in Nepal. Decisions are often made about critical issues affecting girls’ lives, such as early marriage and education, without the input of girls themselves. Women LEAD Nepal provides young women with the skills to become leaders not just for the future, but starting today. We identify & invest in diverse young women who have the potential to become the next generation of leaders in Nepal.
Our vision is for women and girls to lead alongside men.

When & Where
Claire Naylor- Kathmandu, Nepal
Claire strongly believes that female leaders are the ultimate solution to pretty much every problem that ever existed. Born in sunny England, she grew up in South Asia before “studying abroad” in the US where she spent fours years at Georgetown University studying the gender inequality, feminized poverty, violent conflict and fractured peace she witnessed in Nepal. She gets unreasonably excited whenever women’s rights, South Asia and cupcakes are mentioned. Claire’s been heading up Women LEAD’s work in Nepal since June 2011 and has found it to be one of the most manic and glorious experiences of her life. When her head isn’t in her startup, she helps organize Startup Weekend Kathmandu, manages Hollaback! Kathmandu and scouts brilliant young women for Wedu.
