The rhythm of Music City is generated by independent creators who are in pursuit of a full time music career and often have to work multiple jobs and 'side hustles' while keeping the dream alive. The Helping Music Foundation (HMF) sees their struggle and invests in talented creators who are committed to their music career by providing cash grants and development resources.

Please join us in supporting the creators who deserve a little extra push, encouragement and recognition!

About the performers:

Ketch Secor is the front man and founding member of the Grammy-winning band Old Crow Medicine Show. He’ll go down in history as the man who discovered an unreleased Bob Dylan demo and finished it into one of the most famous folk songs of modern times - Wagon Wheel. In 2016 Ketch founded the nonprofit Episcopal School of Nashville, just blocks away from the HOME Facility. Known for his interest in storytelling and musicology, Ketch also recently wrote a children’s book, Lorraine. In addition, Ketch was one of the founding donors for the Helping Music Foundation!

Devon Gilfillian Growing up in Philadelphia on a steady diet of R&B, hip-hop, rock, blues, and soul music, Gilfillian gravitated to records that ignited his mind while making his body move. For him, listening to the towering icons of his musician father’s era—Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Otis Redding, The Temptations—was just as formative and exciting as discovering the new sounds of his own generation, and the beats and rhymes made by rising rap stars like Wu-Tang Clan, Kanye West, Notorious B.I.G., and Jay-Z inspired him in new ways. He began to recognize a connective thread in the sounds he loved best: from the golden throwbacks sampled by the hip-hop beat makers to the raw, emotional vocal deliveries of the Motown greats, for Gilfillian the key ingredient seemed to be the “soul”—not simply the genre, but the feeling and vibe.
