Gift Making: Custom Ring

This short, informative class focuses on the new ring kits that Rockler provides. We will be making individual rings for each participant to take home and wear (or make as a gift) when they leave. Students will have a selection of unusual woods to pick from and designs to work with. This class provides students with the basic instruction for turning on a lathe and preparing a project. Even though this is a hands-on class focused on making a finished ring, we will be discussing different techniques and styles throughout. Thus, the class functions as a basic introduction to wood turning. The skills you will learn are transferable to other contexts and other projects at Rockler or at home. (Please note that ring size must be communicated at the beginning of class if making as a gift--otherwise we can measure student's ring size if making for themselves to wear.)

Safety Measures We’re Taking to Keep You Safe

Social Distancing - All of our classes have a low capacity of attendees and will allow for social distancing.

Sanitization - Our classrooms, seating areas, and tools are cleaned and disinfected before and after every class. We also have hand sanitizer and disinfectant available to be used during all classes.

Masks - Masks are only required to be worn if required by local ordinances. If you prefer to wear a mask, you can bring your own. If you forget to bring a mask we can provide one free of charge.

Gloves - Gloves will be provided free of charge if any classes require tools to be shared by multiple attendees during the same class. This is not a common occurrence and most of the time, attendees are provided their own tools to use.

Are there any age requirements to participate in the class?

This class can only be registered by attendees, who are 18 years of age or older. To schedule a class for an attendee, who is under the age of 18, please contact your local store for details.

Do I need any safety equipment or special clothing?

Safety glasses will be provided free of charge. No loose clothing should be worn, long sleeves need to be rolled up, long hair needs to be tied back. No open-toed shoes can be worn during classes.

Can I cancel if I can't make it?

If you wish to cancel, you must do so 7 days before the class start date in order to be eligible for a refund. No refunds will be given for cancellations within 7 days of the class start date. Refunds will not include Eventbrite's fees.
