Description
The National Resource Center for Asian Languages (NRCAL) promotes Vietnamese Literacy Development. Nurturing the love for the Vietnamese language in children not only helps intergenerational communications in families, it develops self confidence in children and affirms their cultural identity. Some of the awarded texts will be made available as resource material to the K-12 Vietnamese language programs across the U.S.
This second half-day event is free, and will include on-site writing, snacks and drinks.

The writing will be completed on-site within 2 hours, 8:30-11:30.

DEADLINE to register:
January 27, 2019 at midnight.

PRIZES:
$150 for first prizes, $100, second prizes, $50, third prizes.

- REGISTER ONLY ONE CHILD per TICKET
If you are a teacher registering students, please enter a PARENT'S EMAIL and phone number. We need it to send forms to sign and information about Check-in and Pick-up at the event.

On the day of the event, PLEASE BRING
1) The registration ticket
2) A proof of the child's age or grade
3) The three Release Forms: one for Liability, one for Audio/Visual, one for Copyright. They will be emailed to parents once you register, so please enter a parent's email and double check that email carefully.
4) A little cue card (5 x 3) with a few words the child may need to help with writing.

Can past winners participate?

Is there minimum or maximum age requirements for the event?
Age groups are 7-9, 10-12, 13-15, 16-18. Bring school ID or proof of age at the event
What can I write on? how many pages?
Topics, Grading rubrics and Samples of writings are on our website.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Parking is free.
What can I bring into the event?
A pencil or pen if you prefer your own. Paper templates will be provided. You are allowed one cue card (4x3)

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Yes. We will have a list of registrants and check off participants when they arrive, starting at 8am.
Can I update my registration information?
If you need to cancel, or change age group, email us nrcal@fullerton.edu. We will do it for you.
Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?
No, each participant is specific for an age group, and space is limited, so if you can't go, email us to cancel your ticket and have the interested party register.
Can I co-write in a team of two with another student?
