About this event
Celebrate 50 fabulous years in style at the Greater Ithaca Activities Center's 50th Anniversary Mid-Summer Party - "GIAC Since 1972: Celebrating the Old, Embracing the New!" We invite you to come party with us on July 30th from 8pm - 12midnight at The Upstairs (106 S Cayuga St, Ithaca).
There will be spectacular live music performances by Amir Ali, Ave Mack of Empire Kings, Mbusi, and Singtrece. DJ CDZ NUTZ will be spinning an all vinyl mix of funk, soul, Motown, and hip-hop from 1972 to present. A special silent art auction with art pieces graciously donated by Ithaca Reggae Fest will be there for your bidding delight. All proceeds from the evening will be donated back to GIAC's Robin Fund and general programming. To reflect the year it all began, tickets will be $19.72 each. The first 50 people to arrive will receive a special welcome drink! This event is for those 21 and over, but keep an eye out for more all-ages anniversary events throughout the year!
For questions or more information, call (607) 272-3622. This project is made possible, in part, with funding from The Community Arts Partnership of Tompkins County and the Community Foundation of Tompkins County.
More information about:
The Robin Fund -
The Robin Fund assists people in our community faced with a financial crisis and nowhere else to go. When family finances are in precarious balance any emergency becomes a struggle for survival. In such a situation, a grant or loan from the Robin Fund can be made quickly and without a lot of red tape. It can make a world of difference for the recipient. And thanks to the compassionate administration by GIAC staff and volunteers, 100% of each donation goes directly to people in need! Friends and family of Robin Whittlesey started the Robin Fund as a way to perpetuate her legacy of boundless generosity and deep concern for people in the community.
Greater Ithaca Activities Center (GIAC) -
The Greater Ithaca Activities Center (GIAC) is a center for all ages, particularly youth and teens. It serves the immediate neighborhood and the greater Ithaca area by providing multicultural, educational, and recreational programs focused on social and individual development. The center's programs include services dedicated to improving the quality of life for the people we serve; advocating for the rights and needs of youth, families, underrepresented, and disenfranchised populations; providing structured employment training opportunities for at-risk youth and adults; and fighting against oppression and intimidation in our community. The center executes this mission through its own programming and by drawing on the resources of other community agencies and individuals.
