Description

GFM Institute is offered the first Friday of every month on a variety of topics to equip Christians to reach Muslims with the love and message of Christ.

Join us on Friday, June 7th, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. for "Understanding a Muslim's Quest for Identity and Belonging" with Mariya Dostzadah Goodbrake. Discover practical ways to share the love of Christ with Muslims as Mariya shares from her personal experience working among refugee communities here in the States. Grow your understanding of how the shame-honor factor is woven deeply into many cultures, and find out how you can respond appropriately and break down barriers to sharing the love and Gospel of Jesus with those around you.

  • What: GFM Institute Luncheon and Seminar - "Understanding a Muslim's Quest for Identity and Belonging". Tickets are available for a suggested donation of $15 to help cover the cost of your delicious lunch in the beautiful country club setting.

  • When: Friday, June 7, 12:00-2:00 p.m.

  • Where: Las Colinas Country Club (call or email for directions)

Space is limited, so register here, call (972.717.9857) or email (prayer@gfmministries.org) today to reserve your spot and receive directions.

Featured Presenter: Mariya Dostzadah Goodbrake

Mariya Dostzadah is of Afghan decent, born in Iran and raised in India and Canada. She is from a Sunni Muslim family, but is now a follower of Christ. Her vision is to see people from Muslim backgrounds have the veil of culture, religion and superstition raised to reveal the transformational power of Jesus Christ. She studied at the University of Toronto in Political Science and International Development.

She served four years in Mexico with International Medical Assistance, a Christian medical organization serving the Mayan populations in the Yucatan Peninsula. Mariya served in the United States as the Kansas City area coordinator for Crescent Project, a training organization, equipping the Church to effectively build relationships with Muslims in our local communities. She also launched Crescent Project’s, Women’s Training Program entitled, “Beyond the Veil.” In 2015, she launched her independent cross cultural training firm called Branch Global, providing tailored cross cultural solutions to businesses, organizations, Churches, ministries, and collaborations with community partners.

Her multicultural background and experience in diverse cultures have equipped her to bring light to deep rooted issues for increased knowledge about intercultural transitions, and then turning that knowledge into effective bridge building efforts and cultural development projects. She continues to be an active public speaker, and cross cultural trainer with the focus on curricula development, coaching and development of competencies through intercultural exchange. She currently resides in Kansas City.
