8:30am-9:00am Registration, Breakfast, and Networking

9:00am-10:30am Panel Discussion and Q&A

About the Panel:

In partnership with State Street, the Institute for Nonprofit Practice invites you to join us for a panel discussion with private sector leaders about best practices in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).

Institute President and CEO Yolanda Coentro will facilitate a conversation with Paul Francisco, State Street's Chief Diversity Officer and Head of Workforce Development Programs; Colette Phillips, President and CEO of Colette Phillips Communications, Inc.; and Brent Bachus, Talent Director at Deloitte. You'll hear about the areas of DEI they have prioritized in their own work, how they've implemented change across complex global systems, and how leaders in the nonprofit sector can elevate their practice around DEI.

Studies show that more diverse teams perform better and that staff who reflect their communities better understand constituents’ needs, have an easier time building credibility, and are more effective at cultivating community connections. Yet it is estimated that only 11% of nonprofit CEOs are people of color, and women are underrepresented in executive leadership, and the wage gap persists. As our nation confronts race and inherent bias, we need diversity and equitable representation in the leaders of our civil society to help us achieve equality.

In this session we will hone in on actionable steps and effective practices that nonprofit leaders can use to create diverse, inclusive, and equitable organizations.
