Description

Description: This is a Population Studies and Training Center (PSTC) hosted module. This Getting Started with Python and Data Science workshop is an introductory 2-day workshop that aims to provide participants with an immersive practice on Python and data analytics. The workshop is designed primarily for Python beginners, and no prior programming experience is required. After this workshop, the participants will be prepared to understand the basics of Python, install & use Python packages, develop python scripts and manipulate/analyze data using computing packages (e.g., NumPy, Pandas). In addition, participants will get familiar with Python working environment, Anaconda and Jupyter Notebook. This workshop is open to students, postdocs, faculty and other researchers with a Brown University affiliation. Space is limited. Please register and we will notify the decision on enrollment one week before the workshop.

Requirements: Please complete the pre-workshop survey before attending. Participants must bring a laptop with a Windows or Mac operating system that they have administrator permission on.
