Event Details

We’re looking for freelancers and consultants who are serious. Serious about their business, but also seriously frustrated. Do any of these statements describe you?

  • You're doing fairly well as a solopreneur, but feel like you can/should be making more money.
  • You feel like you’ve hit a growth ceiling.
  • You really need to diversify your client list.
  • You are debating hiring your first employee.
  • You're at risk of burnout.

If so, then you need to join us at the “Getting Serious” series for solopreneurs!

Learn from 4 experts over 2 weeks
This is like a mini-MBA for solopreneurs. We're bringing in four successful business owners who have each dealt with a key aspect of growth. At each event, Fueled Collective co-founder Don Ball will interview our guest on some game-changing topics: networking, sales, hiring and positioning.

Tuesday, Dec. 4, 3-5 p.m.
Building a network that actually nets work
Sure, you've got a network. But how often does it lead to business? Hear how Mo Perry grew her company by getting serious about building her network.

Mo Perry is co-founder of Logosphere Storysmiths, a boutique content creation agency with clients ranging from Fortune 100 companies to nonprofits to marketing agencies. Mo Perry is a writer, editor, and actor. The common thread that connects all of Mo's work across the stage and the page is a passion for exploring and communicating authentic human truth and connection.

Thursday, Dec. 6, 3-5 p.m.
Designing your own sales approach
Sales is not a born skill. Selling to business clients requires a mix of social skills and business process that's different for everyone. Learn how Judy Jossi sells to high-end clients using a natural and personal approach to sales.

Judy Jossi, owner of Slice Consultinghas spent 20 years working in national advertising agencies, Grey Direct, Carmichael Lynch and Fallon, and as president of a small agency. Always wearing the labels of direct marketing, database marketing and integrated marketing, she was an expert at sorting out a client’s “puzzle," never leaving a meeting without a matrix and a next step. In 2001, she started her own business to work closely with companies and non-profits to solve their own marketing puzzles and get the results they need to grow and thrive.

Tues., Dec. 11, 3-5 p.m.
Hiring employee #1 (gulp!)

Hiring an employee is a pivotal moment. And it comes with tons of questions! What does it mean that your business will be bigger than just you? Are you ready to commit to supporting another human being? Will there always be enough business? What about hiring a contractor instead? Hear how Lindsi Gish dealt with these and more questions as she made the leap from solopreneur to boss.

Lindsi Gish is owner of gish&coa small strategic communications and digital marketing firm in Minneapolis. After spending a number of years leading communications and digital at a regional nonprofit, followed by a global PR firm, Lindsi saw an opportunity to use her significant experience and robust network to develop creative approaches to solve communications and marketing challenges for nonprofits and small businesses—efficiently and cost-effectively.

Thurs., Dec. 13, 3-5 p.m.
Positioning: the key to authentic growth
You want to grow, but are you clear on who your ideal client is and what they need? Positioning is about being clear on who you serve, what you offer and why they should buy. Hear how Jennifer Zick intentionally positioned her new company in a way that led to better clients and bigger billings.

Jennifer Zick is CEO of Authentic Branda Minneapolis-based marketing consulting group. They help great businesses attain next-level growth through Marketing Traction. With nearly twenty years of marketing experience in innovative, entrepreneurial, and accelerated-growth companies, Jennifer brings a wealth of experience to Authentic Brand’s clients.

Bonus: built-in time for intentional networking
At these events, you won’t sit passively while someone yaks about how great their business is. We’re building in lots of Q&A time. And we’re building in networking time – so you can expand your professional circle by getting to know other solopreneurs.

Intermediate-level solopreneurs only!
We love prospective and newbie solopreneurs. But this event is designed for solopreneurs who are further along in their journey. Our goal is to keep the conversation at a higher level and to make sure the other solopreneurs you meet are also seasoned. So, we’re asking that anyone attending has at least 2 years in business and at least $100k+ in annual revenues.
