Five international entrepreneurs who now have a home in Boulder “get real” about their startup experiences and life lessons learned.

About this Event

Hear from a diverse panel of international entrepreneurs who have launched successful ventures and brought innovation to the United States. This will also be followed by a networking opportunity for international students and those interested in global entrepreneurship to connect with the Boulder startup community.

Panelists include:

Panelist Profiles:

Mehmet Kazgan (originally from Turkey)

Mehmet is a health care entrepreneur and executive leader, who has worked with Aetna, iTriage, Google, Paypal, Visa and Microsoft — and led teams of 200+ employees. Mehmet holds bachelors degrees in both computer sciences and math, as well as a dual MS/MBA with a cybersecurity focus. Mehmet has more than 15 years of leadership experience in health care, health insurance, broadcasting and hardware technologies. Mehmet is an advisory board member, as well as a mentor, at entrepreneurship and state grant programs and health care organizations.

Ram Narayanswamy (originally from India)

Ram is currently a Senior Manager of Commercial Aerospace and Strategic Technology at Ball Aerospace and has devoted his career to developing leading-edge technology, transitioning them into products and developing the markets for these products, particularly in the area of Imaging. Ram's stint at Intel included incubating Intel’s RealSense multi-camera system which won the "Best of CES 2015" award. His team developed key enabling technologies for light field capture and immersive 3D displays. At Occipital, he developed leading 3D sensors for mapping, tracking and positional awareness.

Verity Noble (originally from UK)

Verity is the COO of Simple Startup which helps entrepreneurs simplify their finances, understand their numbers and make smart, informed business decisions. Verity also started a company in London that won the Yahoo! Finds of the Year 2009 and subsequently she was named one of the top 100 in the Courvoisier Future 500, ‘an elite network of the rising stars in the UK’ so is intimately familiar with the struggles of being an entrepreneur. She then spent 3 years at the Unreasonable Institute as their VP of Operations supporting incredible entrepreneurs, before joining Simple Startup where we also support incredible entrepreneurs!

Julien Denaes (originally from Switzerland)

Julien is the co-founder and CEO of Alpin where he oversees all company strategy and business activities, and drives the company’s strong commitment to its culture and core values. While leading Alpin, he was a Global Entrepreneur in Residence at CU Boulder, where he provided guidance to over 500 students, coached over 100 startups, served as a speaker, panelist and judge on dozens of expert panels, and co-led programs throughout the Boulder-Denver region (and earlier, in New York City and Montréal). He guided Alpin’s successful acceptance into several highly-selective startup accelerators, including The Founder Institute (one of 12 companies chosen out of 750 applicants), FounderLab (by winning first place out of the 12 Founder Institute companies), Startup Next and Techstars (one of 11 companies chosen out of 2,000), improving the company and its ability to deliver value to customers at each stage. He is a cloud security expert and an accomplished mobile app and front end developer, creating systems that have withstood extensive penetration testing efforts by Alpin’s customers. Before co-founding Alpin, he led teams designing new systems for large global clients including Nestlé, Richemont (owner of luxury brands such as Cartier, Montblanc, Van Cleef & Arpels and many more), Nespresso, the United Nations and others.

Sasi Movva (originally from India)

Sasi is the co-founder and CEO of Goally, a digital therapeutics startup. Goally's mission is to use technology, behavioral & child-development science, and the shared knowledge of all of the parents in the Goally community to help every parent give their children the best possible start in life. Sasi is an engineering leader, technology innovator, and startup entrepreneur with nearly twenty years of combined experience in entrepreneurship, software engineering management and hands-on engineering roles.
