Event description

Description

The Getting Out for Good project is working with at-risk young women and girls across Greater Manchester to understand the challenges they face in their local communities and to help them build positive social networks.

Researchers from the Manchester Centre for Youth Studies at Manchester Metropolitan University are working in partnership with local voluntary groups and statutory agencies for Getting out for Good, which is funded by the Comic Relief international programme from the Tampon Tax fund.

This youth focused project aims to boost the aspirations of young women and girls through sport and arts, with support from their peers. Activities include boxing and fitness, football, drama and film-making with each activity leading to nationally recognised AQA accreditation. Thanks to this, young women and girls facing complex life issues will have the opportunity to make their voices heard while being helped to create new opportunities for self-empowerment.

Join us for this official launch of the project, updates on progress so far, entertainment, music and special guests!
