Event description

Description

Looking to fall in love with your work again?

We help you figure out what it is you really want to be doing, and help you make it happen.

For whatever reason, you’re not really excited with your work and you've decided that rather than just shut down, you prefer to see if you can rediscover a "spark" that gets you fired up about your work and discovering opportunities for growth and learning in your current organization.

Are you ready to take action today?

This workshop has been designed specifically for you by two Ottawa-based entrepreneurs of innovative career development services.

This workshop will help you understand the various sources of your career and work frustrations, what you need to do to succeed in today's marketplace generally, and how to take meaningful action in your current environment to help you achieve great career enthusiasm and success. We'll spend the day working through:

Setting the Stage: Exploding the many myths around work & careers

Building Block #1: The Inside Job -- building your strong foundation

Building Block #2: Personal Branding -- Your Compelling Value Story

Building Block #3: The Outside Job -- disciplined 21st century networking

The "Getting Jazzed About Work" workshop moves you a giant step forward towards your own personalized version of career success. At the end of this workshop you will leave with a clear road map of the specific activities you will be focusing on, including:

A work styles personality profile assessment designed for the business world, giving you an understanding of what drives you as well as the work environments and teams that are the best fit for you. With the unique characterization of your work personality you can more easily move forward, understanding your optimum role and the complementary team environment in which you will thrive;

A clear understanding of and ability to articulate what you want, also known as the ask. Many of us think we understand what we want but when pressed, fail to deliver a strong and powerful message. During the workshop, you will have the opportunity to further detail and justify what you seek;

The first step in developing a persuasive LinkedIn profile. Linkedin is a powerful business tool but so much depends on the words you choose and the story you tell. The workshop lays the groundwork for creating a standout Linkedin profile that tells your story in a powerful and convincing manner. Leveraging the earlier work from your personality profile and detailed understanding of what you seek, you create the foundation of your high impact LinkedIn profile;

More comfort in face-to-face networking – including talking about yourself as well as practicing active listening. Relationships are built on conversations. You will have ample opportunity to learn and practice networking techniques, drawing upon your earlier profiling work to create conversations and engagements. Note: many attendees find this one of the most valuable parts of the workshop - and we make sure to take the 'scare factor' out of the process and provide a friendly environment to connect and get valuable feedback;

Six weeks of follow up e-mails and exercises. The learning does not stop at the end of the day. We follow up with one new additional exercise e-mail each week for six weeks to allow you to expand upon the work from the workshop.

Event pricing includes snacks and refreshments, lunch, our (Re)Boot Your Career book resource, and follow-on emails to support your continuing focus on personal career development.
