Getting in The Zone is based upon the adult MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) program, founded by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn.
Children and adults are experiencing stress at unprecedented levels. Increasing stress may result in anger, anxiety, depression and externalizing behaviors, as well as low self-esteem and self-confidence. MBSR offers proven methods and strategies that can assist students in coping with an increasingly challenging world.
Gaining these skills not only increases focus and attention in the classroom but encourages more awareness of one's actions and their impact on others.
Teenagers often experience so many pressures,- from friends, parents, teachers and society. Getting in The Zone creates a space to gain some perspective on these pressures and tangible tools that can be used in school and in life.
