The Off Broadway Alliance, the organization of Off Broadway producers, theaters, general managers, press agents, and marketing firms, will hold another in its Sunday Seminars series, focused on the culture, business and history of Off Broadway on Sunday, October 4th, 2015.
The seminar, titled "Butts in Seats” will feature AMANDA BOHANfrom Amanda Bohan Marketing (Drop Dead Perfect, Would You Still Love Me If..., Women Are Crazy Because Men Are A**holes, The Imbible),LEANNE SCHANZERfrom Leanne Schanzer Promotions (Queen of the Night, Stomp, Fuerza Bruta, 39 Steps, Rock of Ages, Peter and the Starcatcher, Producers, Hairspray), SUSAN L SCHULMANfrom Schulman Publicity (Dancin’, Applause, Scapino, State Fair) and JOE TRENTACOSTA from JT PR (A Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Gazillion Bubble Show, Clinton the Musical, A Queen for a Day). HUGH HYSELL (National Broadway and Live Arts Lead for Groupon and producer of Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike and Peter and the Starcatcher) will moderate the discussion.
The seminar will discuss the process of marketing and promoting shows using methods that don’t increase advertising expenses – methods that are essential Off Broadway, where advertising budgets are relatively small. Attendees will learn from industry insiders about how to use those methods – and how to plan marketing and promotion timelines to make a show a success.
"Getting Butts in Seats” will be held on the 4th floor of Anne L. Bernstein Theatre (formerly the Snapple Theater Center), 210 West 50th Street (between Broadway and 8th Avenue). Doors will open at 11:30am for complimentary coffee and bagels. The panel will take place from Noon - 1:30pm with additional time allotted afterward for conversation with fellow attendees.
Admission for the seminar is free, however reservations are a must. Attendees are encouraged to pre-submit questions for the panelists when they submit their reservations. Questions will be asked live at the seminar.
